Palm Springs: Queer Tribe Standing In Solidarity

This collection of twelve interrelated films illustrates cross-generational connections in queer community as well as how the “village,” in our modern ecology of sex and power, has been shaped in large part by our collective wounds.

Our culture says that a young, hard body is the zenith of sexual expression and desire. But, as we grow in queer community, we are being called to expand our experiences of beauty, power, and connectivity—freeing ourselves from the shame that has defined us for decades.

This has been the road traveled by many gay and queer men before our present day; we have always been looking for a safe place to go. Travel was necessary—and sometimes still is—to find somewhere, anywhere, to fuck and affirm our right to exist. We fuck because it is an expression of who we are, and we dance with the danger of being found out because we have no choice but to live our deepest truths, even in the shadows.

Long ago, elders created rituals in order to usher young men into adult-consciousness, a transference of a collective masculine identity. Today, we suffer without these vehicles into a meaningful collective experience of gay life.

We need our elders to be with us, to teach us, to remind us about how we got here today. We need our young men to keep us connected to the pulse of change, to the hunger and inspiration of our evolution. We need each other in order to create a resilient community that is built upon mutual respect and solidarity. We are creating a global tribe of gay and queer men that transcends generations and cultures.
